Cueva de Nerja

Discovered by five local boys in 1959, the Nerja Cave extends almost 5 km through the hillside above Maro, of which the public route takes in a sequence of chambers culminating in the Sala del Cataclismo, where a 32 m column stands beneath the vault. The visit lasts about 45 minutes on paved steps; it is a constant 19 to 21 degrees inside, so bring a layer in summer. Open daily from 09:15 with last entry 15:30 in the regular season and 16:30 in summer and holiday periods; adult tickets are around €15 and should be booked online, especially in July and August.
