About Castillo de Colomares
Colomares is not a historic castle but a monument built between 1987 and 1994 by a doctor, Esteban Martín, with two local masons, mixing Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic and Moorish styles to tell the story of Columbus's voyages. It claims the smallest church in the world and is visited from the outside only, which takes 30 to 45 minutes. Adults pay €3.50; it is closed Mondays, open 10:00 to 18:00 in autumn and winter, until 20:00 in spring, and with a midday break in summer.
