San Pedro Alcántara

San Pedro Alcántara is the family-oriented town 10 km west of Marbella's center, worth knowing for its church square, its long landscaped boulevard built over the tunneled highway, and a seafront with wide beaches and chiringuitos. On the shore near the Guadalmina river are the 2nd-century Roman baths of Las Bóvedas and the early Christian basilica of Vega del Mar, both visitable on guided tours arranged through Marbella's tourism office. Thursday is market day.
