Feria de Mijas Pueblo (Virgen de la Peña)

The white hill village above Fuengirola celebrates its patroness in the first week of September with a five-day fair that is small enough to feel genuinely local. The day fair runs from 2 pm to 8 pm in the Jardines de la Muralla, the gardens on the old wall with views to the coast, with family casetas and live music; evenings bring concerts at the municipal marquee. The high point is the solemn procession of the Virgin from the Inmaculada church on 8 September. Entry is free. Mijas Pueblo's parking fills quickly during the fair, so arrive before noon or take the bus up from Fuengirola.

Recurs: annual, 4-8 September, closing with the procession of the Virgen de la Peña on 8 September.
