Casares Village

The approach road gives the famous view of Casares: white cubes stacked up a crag beneath the ruined castle, with griffon vultures circling above. Park at the entrance and climb through the lanes to the castle and the 16th-century Iglesia de la Encarnación for views to the coast and Gibraltar, then stop at the Blas Infante birthplace museum on Calle Carrera. Lunch on the terraces of the main square is the usual reward; the road up from Estepona is winding but well surfaced.
