La Concha Hike (from Refugio de Juanar)

La Concha is the shell-shaped peak that frames every view of Marbella, and the standard route starts at the Refugio de Juanar above Ojén (about 760 m), climbing through olive groves, pines and ferns to a long ridge with the whole coast and, on clear days, Gibraltar and Morocco below. Count on roughly 6 hours round trip and 14 km with some exposed, rocky sections near the top; it is not a casual walk. Start early, carry two liters of water per person and avoid July and August. Parking is at the refuge.
