About El Torcal de Antequera
El Torcal is a karst landscape at 1,200 m where 150-million-year-old seabed has weathered into stacked stone towers, and its three signposted loops (the 1.5 km green and 3 km yellow routes plus the longer Ammonites trail) start at the Torcal Alto visitor center. Entry is free; the center is open 10:00 to 17:00 in winter and 10:00 to 19:00 from April to October, and on busy weekends the access road is closed to private cars at the lower parking lot, with a €2 shuttle. Ibex are common, fog and wind arrive quickly, and the site is 50 minutes from Málaga and 90 from Marbella, usually combined with the dolmens below.
