Marbella Old Town Extends Evening Pedestrian Hours
The historic centre goes car-free from six in the evening on weekends this autumn, with more terrace space for restaurants and a shuttle from the main car parks.
Marbella's old town will be closed to traffic from 18:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the autumn season, extending the summer scheme that proved popular with residents and restaurants alike.
The change affects the streets around Plaza de los Naranjos and the lanes running up to the old walls. Residents with permits keep access, and a free shuttle links the Avenida del Mar and Parque de la Represa car parks with the edge of the pedestrian zone every ten minutes.
What it means for a night out
- Terraces along Calle Ancha and Plaza de la Victoria gain extra tables.
- Taxi drop-off moves to Avenida Ricardo Soriano and the Alameda.
- Deliveries are limited to before midday.
Restaurateurs have welcomed the move, which they say makes the centre quieter and safer for walking between dinner and drinks. The scheme will be reviewed in December.
