About Castillo Sohail
Built by the Caliphate of Córdoba in 956 and rebuilt after the Christian conquest, Sohail castle sits on a 38 m hill at the western end of Fuengirola with views along the coast to Mijas. Entry is free: Tuesday to Friday 10:00 to 14:00 and weekends 10:00 to 18:00, closed Mondays, with hours altered during the summer Marenostrum concert season when the esplanade becomes an open-air stage. There is a supervised parking lot beside the castle and the river path leads back to the beach.
