Festival de Málaga (Málaga Film Festival)

Spain's main showcase for Spanish-language and Ibero-American cinema turns the city center into a red-carpet district for ten days. Competition films screen at the Teatro Cervantes and the Albéniz cinema, with industry sessions, open-air events and the Biznaga de Oro awards gala. Tickets for individual screenings are inexpensive and go on sale through the festival website a couple of weeks before opening; galas are invitation-only. Late February is pleasantly mild in Málaga, so this is an easy week to combine with museums and the start of the almond blossom season inland.
