Feria Internacional de los Pueblos (FIP), Fuengirola

Fuengirola's international fair started in the 1990s as a way of bringing the town's many foreign communities together and now draws more than 30 national delegations, each with a stand serving its food and drink and a slot on the stage for folk music and dance. The opening parade through the center on 1 May involves around 1,500 participants in national dress. It is free to enter, very family-friendly and best visited in the early evening when the stands are busy but the lines are short. Expect Argentine grills next to Finnish pastries and Cuban rum; bring cash for the smaller stands, and use the Cercanías train rather than driving.
