Dunas de Artola

The Artola dunes are a 19-hectare system of fossil and shifting sand dunes declared a Natural Monument in 2001, the only stretch of the Marbella shoreline that still looks as the whole coast once did. Boardwalks lead from the Cabopino marina parking lot across the dunes to the beach and to the Torre Ladrones, a watchtower of Roman origin rebuilt in later centuries and now a listed monument. Stay on the walkways: sea daffodil, marram grass and juniper hold the sand together. Early morning and dusk are the best times.
