Caminito del Rey

Built in the early 1900s for hydroelectric workers and reopened in 2015 after a full rebuild, the Caminito is a one-way 7.7 km route of which 2.9 km is boardwalk clipped to the cliff, finishing on a suspension bridge above the El Chorro reservoir. Entry is timed and sells out weeks ahead: €10 general or €18 with an official guide, plus a €2.50 shuttle bus between the northern entrance near Ardales and the exit at El Chorro, and children under 8 are not admitted. Open Tuesday to Sunday with first slots from 09:00; allow three to four hours and wear closed shoes. It is about an hour from Málaga and 75 minutes from Marbella, or reachable by train to El Chorro station.
