About Real Club Valderrama
Robert Trent Jones Sr. laid out the course in 1974 as Sotogrande New; Jaime Ortiz-Patiño rebuilt it into Valderrama in the 1980s and it went on to host the 1997 Ryder Cup, the Volvo Masters for 16 editions, two WGC-American Express Championships and the Andalucía Masters. A par 71 of 6,390 m threaded through cork oaks, it rewards precision rather than length. Visitors are accepted on a limited number of weekday tee times with a handicap certificate and strict etiquette; green fees are among the highest in Spain, upwards of 300 euros.
